A Recent Writing: "Notes"

This summer 2016 in an occasional manner *A Recent Writing* worked together with Publication Studio Rotterdam on a new instalment: "Notes" is a group field trip into the styles of holiday, the détournement of bourgoise sensibilities and, of course, camp. With the artists of WE <3 CAMP at Showroom MAMA, special contributions and the collective efforts of MAMA's volunteers, staff, and visitors, we put together something like a collaging Fanzine, lingering in-between rampant excitement and critical inhibition. How is Camp and reflections on Camp (by Susan Sontag, Oscar Wilde, Bruce LaBruce, for instance) relevant today? Camp in our hands became a looking glass maybe, or a walking stick to explore how style, taste and notions of the natural and artifice work in a moment of exaggeration and privilege of authenticity.
